A little bit about THE ORGANISERS & WHY
Hi there!
We are Llanwddyn Events Social Group . A small team of people who fancied organising some social events for both local people and visitors to enjoy while in the area. We all live in and around the village of Llanwddyn, Lake Vyrnwy, Powys and are fortunate to be situated in one of the most stunning and picturesque parts of Wales.
This web site is used by all of the community, we just manage and look after it so it doesn't break!
Llanwddyn is a small village has no more than 220 residents, one shop (Dafarn Newedd Store & Petrol Station), and is approx 1 mile away from Lake Vyrnwy - a man made lake and dam that feeds water through to Liverpool.
Up and around the Lake you will find gift & craft shops, including the RSPB, Artisans Cafe & Gift Shop who are great supporters in everything we do, A new addition to the area is the Chocloate Shop. Only just opened so more details will be added about when we know whats what.
Spend some time at Lake Vyrnwy and enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the lake and the surrounding area have to offer, with breathtaking scenery, great walking, outdoor activities, or for the less energetic, just have a mooch or stop off for a hot chocolate at the cafe. Llanwddyn has a lovely community centre that is ideal for holding events, like the ones we run and is available for hire to the public. In many ways, it's the heartbeat of our village and we would despair if it should close, which we are afraid of. It is a vital asset to the village and is used for many a coffee morning and social gathering. Activities in the hall include things like,YOGA, line dancing, Sports Nights, and indoor bowls on a regular basis. As villagers we have a responsibility to look after our Community Centre/Village Hall, so keeping it used regularly is a must. It has fabulous stage and can be used for so many things, like concerts, wedding receptions, parties, meetings, conferences, plays and so on, so if you do need a venue...why not try ours..
The community centre is a registered charity and is in the care of a committee composing of Trustees, and affiliated members of the centre. They have a big task on there hands keeping the place going, not to forget the complete restoration of the place and we do what ever we can to support them.
The intention whilst having a great time organising and putting on events, is to raise money to fund further events and also give a little extra support to our community projects. Some of the things we contribute to are: Community flower fund, improving facilities at the hall, childrens play park. So although 'not for profit' we do intend to invest in future events and our village in general.
